Crystals at CityCenter
October 27, 2011
The Crystals at City Center is one small funky mall. Its design is very kinetic and explosive, with large elements physically clash one into the others. This does not make it easy for a photographer in looking for perfect shots – we are used to simple geometries. But I tried to do it anyway, and I think the spaces make some unique shots.
The stairs and escalators are celebrated pieces here, adding some more criss-cross lines onto the whole cake.
This is the access from the City Center. To the left is the back wall of Aria hotel’s reservation counter.
The Crystals’ center attraction is the sculptural Tree House, which hosts the information center on the ground floor and restaurant Mastro’s on the second. Its shape is so much in contrast to the rest of the building, very organic and adorned with curvaceous contours.
